Torrential rain can be a bit of a hindrance when you’re literally scooting to an opening – it’s like Quadrophenia once we get going, we tell you – but we braved a hairy, scary journey last night nonetheless to get to the private view for Daydreamer with… James Lavelle at Haunch of Venison.
Inspired by the desire to marry music and visual art, Daydreamer with… James Lavelle is a unique and visceral new exhibition experience hosted at Haunch of Venison, bringing together some of the most high profile and acclaimed creative names working in music, art, film, fashion and design. Each artist involved created a brand new artwork in response to new music composed for the project by UNKLE; spurred on by a lifetime of work and musical collaborations, world-renowned producer, label owner, music maker and DJ James Lavelle (UNKLE) takes the role of curator for this unusual pop-up exhibition.
if you’re stuck for something to do this bank holiday weekend, we’d highly recommend a visit – dropping a few names with a hefty clang, a few other attendees who might be inclined to agree were Eliza Doolittle (the singer, not the character from Pygmalion, natch), Nick Cave, the actor Steven Mackintosh, Paul ‘Dennis Pennis’ Kaye, and Carri Mundane of Cassette Playa. If that doesn’t sound like the weirdest fantasy dinner party of all time, we’ll eat our hats.
