Some of Art Wednesday’s more elderly staff remember raving like it was yesterday, assuming Alzheimers hasn’t already kicked in. Blasting out techno in their bedrooms only to cram into their friends cars in the wee hours and drive out to illegal raves, they certainly knew how to live it up. It could be argued, of course, that some of the youngest generation don’t know what they’re missing, what with having our noses in our Blackberrys and twatting about on Twitter all day long, but the kids at least got a taste of it when Leftfield performed at L.E.D festival last weekend. Oh, and good news: That taste of old-school rave is set to continue, as Leftfield embark on their UK tour.

Guess what? Here comes the press release:

The tour, which kicks off on Thursday 18th November, will see Leftfield perform in Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Plymouth and Bristol, and culminate in a homecoming show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on Friday 3rd December.

Leftfield’ Neil Barnes comments: “The reception we received over the summer at the festivals was amazing. Now we can’t wait to get out there again this autumn and bring the full Leftfield Live experience to the rest of the country. Let the bass roar.”

The band trailblazed their unique sound in the early ‘90s and took John Lydon back to the top of the charts.  The band whose debut album ‘Leftism’ became a modern classic, was also voted one of the greatest albums of all time by Q magazine. A band whose follow-up album ‘Rhythm & Stealth’ went to number 1, spawned the techno anthem ‘Phat Planet’, and that Guinness advert with the horses. Revealed as the loudest band EVER to play Brixton Academy, Leftfield’s show made such a seismic impact that it remains the benchmark for live electronic music to this day. Leftfield can take recognition for inspiring some of the world’s biggest dance acts, including The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Underworld, and also Sasha, who acclaims Leftfield as “writing the commandments on electronic music”. Now Leftfield are back…
