There ain’t no party like a Pirelli party. Pirelli Corso Venezia, the brand’s first flagship store, opened to much fanfare last week in Milan.
To celebrate the opening as well as the launch of their new PZero fashion collection, featuring collaborations with Valextra and Borsalino, they hosted a star-studded party that saw us normal folk rubbing shoulders, knees and elbows with the beautiful and famous.
As I navigated my way through the crowds to try and get a sneaky peek and snap of the evening’s host, supermodel Naomi Campbell, I realised just how difficult the task at hand might be. It was like walking through a minefield in Phuoc Tuy – not recommended and extremely dangerous. I’d already had one concussion this year and I certainly wasn’t looking forward to getting another. As the press and paparazzi pushed me aside, I pushed back. It was kill or be killed. And though my strike wasn’t as deadly as theirs, I did manage to get an interesting shot of Ms. Campbell, which captures the slightly claustrophobic atmosphere. And if I thought getting a shot of her was hard, getting a decent one of Pirelli Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera proved damn near impossible. I nonetheless tried, but can’t say I’m entirely pleased with the result. That man is a demi-god, clearly why it’s so difficult to capture him on camera.
