Stop the mother fuckin’ press… We’ve launched an alive and kickin’ physical magazine version of Art Wednesday called [cue drum roll...] AWE – as in Art Wednesday Editorial (yes we thought the name was rather clever too). It’s going to be a bi-annual publication focusing on arts, a bit of fashion and a lot of culture, and it looks, feels (and smells) pretty damn good.

In issue one we have some of the most outstanding people in their field contributing, including Paola Kudacki (photographer), William Eadon (photographer), The Selby (photographer), Robert Wilson (artist), Emily Hope (photographer), Scott Trindle (photographer), Maya Singer (style.com), Lily Cole (model) and Jessica Brinton (Harper’s Bazaar & Sunday Times Style) to name but a few.

The creative partners behind AWE are James Penfold and artwednesday.com founder Max Bergius.

Both James and Max’s vision is to create a culture magazine whereby they call upon all the talent invited to contribute, to push themselves in a way they have not had the opportunity to do previously in any other publications.

The first issue is B2 in format and is limited to only 2,000 copies. There is NO advertising in the inaugural issue and it’s a FREE publication that we’re distributing in the vein of the early issues of Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine.

We hope you like it.

The magazine looks great. Good job on the move from digital to print. I’m not a massive fan of that new AWE logo though, I’m interested to know why you didn’t keep your current one?

Looking forward to getting some physical Art Wednesday in my hands though.

    Hi James,

Thank you for your kind words which mean a lot to all here at AW HQ. There is no AWE logo as yet, the front cover was designed by Robert Wilson (http://www.robertwilson.com/) one of the worlds most prolific theater directors of his time. It was a complete accident that he scribbled down on a piece of paper the name of the magazine when we were shooting him up in the Hamptons. It was never our intention to get any of the contributors to design the front cover, so we guess sometimes things just happen when putting something like this together.

    Hi there,
For fear of sounding repetitive, in light of the other comments… where can I pick up a copy of the editorial?
    Many thanks.

Hi Gigi, do you live in London? If you do then a handful of AWE copies are stocked at:

Present London on Shoreditch High Street
    Bleach London on Kingsland Road
    Donlon Books on Broadway Market

Note the magazine is free so all the above outlets control who gets them, not us. We are hoping to expand the number of shops that carry AWE so keep an eye out on our twitter page for more details (@artwednesday).

[...] Art Wednesday‘s free (and ad-free) publication, ‘Art Wednesday Editorial’ just dropped. You can get a little preview of it via this link, but it looks like something that warrants a tactile look, feel and smell above any digital medium. Finding it sounds like a case of being the right person in the right place at the right time. I like Art Wednesday’s jollier approach to the subject than the sterner outlets. And in a curious way, that jollity tells me that they’re confident in what they do too, which makes me like the site more.
