It’s that time again – our next NICE TO MEET YOU is on the 15th August! So we thought we’d give you a little run down of what’s in store.

Ben Hammersley set a precedent at our last event and he’s certainly a tough gig to follow – no doubt about it, but we think we’ve lined up someone very special who will blow your minds – inventor extraordinaire and proud owner of an OBE, Trevor Baylis.

Our musical partners in crime Luv Luv Luv Records have secured music’s next big thing; the face of Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign Roo Panes and Matthew Phelps from Funthyme will be back by popular demand to feed hungry mouths. Don’t forget that all three are included in the price! That’s an inspirational talk, gig and dinner for just £30. Scroll down to buy tickets.

Talkers & Strummers:

Trevor Baylis doesn’t really need an introduction, but we thought we’d give you a little potted-history of his life, for the swots out there. Trevor was born in 1937 in Kilburn, London. At the tender age of 15 he was swimming for Great Britain and then found his first job was at a Soil Mechanics Laboratory in Southall, where a part-time day release programme enabled him to study mechanical and structural engineering at the local technical college. His early career was very diverse: he worked as a stunt man (bet you didn’t know that?!) escapologist, Physical Education Instructor for the Army, and was the proprietor of his own swimming pool company. Inspired by a television programme on AIDS in Africa he invented the Clockwork Radio, and in 1997 he was awarded an OBE for services to Africa. Always concerned about the neglect of inventors, inventions and intellectual property, he set up Trevor Baylis Brands to help inventors get their products to market.

Wooing you with his poetic acoustic balladry will be singer/songwriter and Burberry model Roo Panes. The 23-year-old singer from Dorset is not only beautiful, but he also sings with a mesmerisingly beautiful folk voice. Roo is on the rise – he replaced actor Eddie Redmayne earlier this year as the new frontman for Burberry and has already played to star-studded events around London, so this is a very special occasion to see music’s next big thing. Need we say more? Watch him in action below:
